Plan your day
Before you go to sleep. Make it a habit to plan your activities for the next day. Go through the things that need to be accomplished the following day. Failing to plan will result in getting caught up with things that are not important. You lose sight of your priorities for your day.
Get a clean desk
You cannot work with a clutter desk. It provide distraction. Lots of it. So clear the desk. Working with a clean desk or clean work environment permits us to have only the most important task before us so that we can focus all of our attention on that task without other visual distractions.
Go bite size.
If you are going to eat an elephant, you will do it one bite at a time. If you have a project that require long hours. Chances of doing it uninterrupted is almost zero. You may have to content with phone call, meeting, coffee breaks etc. Breaking the project down into smaller bits reduces the feeling of being overwhelmed and it is always easier when thing are small and manageable.
Plan Around Interruptions.
Interruptions can create stress because you need to refocus your attention on your job again.Sometime interruptions occur in identifiable patterns. Make a note when do you get the most interruptions during your work day. Go with the flow. Plan your work on time block that have minim interruption.
Deadline
Deadline create urgency and accountability. It move you into action. Without it. Your work will land in the back of your mind and soon it will be forgotten.
